Travel

There are plenty of departures and various travel options daily from Sweden, Finland and Tallinn, which you can choose from to get to Åland. Most visitors take the ferry but you can also choose a flight to get to our island.

One of the fastest trips to Åland is Eckerö Linjen which starts in Swedish Grisslehamn and arrives at Berghamn, Eckerö. The boat trip only takes two hours.

Day trip from Sweden

You can easily come from Sweden just for a day!
M / S Eckerö departs from Grisslehamn at. 10.00 (local time) and arrive at Berghamn, Eckerö at 13.00 (local time). From the terminal to the Semesterloppet it´s only about 2km walk so the you can leave the car in Sweden.
At 18.30 (local time) the boat returns to Sweden, and arrive in Grisslehamn again at 19.30 (local time). You have time to participate in the race and enjoy a good dinner on the terrace after the award ceremony.

On the way to Åland you can choose to eat their popular brunch for 225 SEK. Their “Skärgårdbordet” (buffet), which costs 335 SEK, can be an alternative for the return trip if you have not already eaten for example the pizzabuffet in Käringsund

Transportation Mariehamn – Eckerö – Mariehamn

Leave the car in town and come to Eckerö by bus!
With Ålandstrafikens bus line 1 can you go from Mariehamns bus station for example at 12.20 pm (will be in Eckerö at 1 pm) and back again from Eckero at 6.15pm (in Mariehamn at 6.50 pm) or 23.15 pm (in Mariehamn at 23.45 pm)
One way cost 2,50€/ adult! You can pay with cash or bank card on the bus
